Centred! My Appreciation To Music

If there's one thing in my definition that makes a lot of sense, is music. It really shocks me sometimes how it makes so much sense and the shock signifies a higher power that is beyond the physical. You can communicate anything to me through music.

As much as I love music I don't listen to all genres. Being a vocalist/singer myself I gravitate towards music with strong vocals and deep lyrical content- I mean well thought out lyrics that not only make sense with instrumentals but also relate to a different perspective of the usual(life).

I grew up in a Christan family and my main influence of musical choice is Gospel. I relate to the content because I have a relationship with God and an understanding of God. Because my father is a Pastor I grew up singing in church, well I still do. To grow in this ministry I need to listen to this kind of music. It has grown to be my favorite genre.

Joyous Celebration was and is still my favorite Gospel Choir and has a great influence on my kind of Gospel. More urban and contemporary. Well because it's a choir it's made of different vocalists that I have grown to love even after they left the choir to be on their own. I am different and I am drawn to difference in all sorts of ways.

There are vocalist that strike a nerve of excitement if there's any and it's because of their difference. Now vocal ability is volumes for me, but more than that lyrical content is everything. So a beautiful combination is great vocals and deep lyrical content.

With that being said can I single out Hlengiwe Ntombela-Mthethwa. I fell in love with her on Joyous Celebration. Everything that music means to me is her. More than that she is all about the truth and she is spirit filled. She is a definition of understanding purpose. I listen to her and I see God.

One song that solidified my love for her artistry is 'You are life'. The lyrics talk about God being life through the word. The depth in the lyrics cannot be understood if there's no direct, thorough communication with God. Her delivery of the song is one I am sure heaven rejoice over. This song has done more than I could have ever asked for. It came to my life when I thought my thoughts were crazy, but it validated that I am centered by God's spirit.
